Mood swings are very important and can affect your decision-making and daily living.

Your state of mind is determined by your moods. In a positive state you are happy and enjoy the moment. Negative moods lead to misguided decisions, unhappiness and low self esteem.

Negative thoughts only have power if you allow them to.

They are natural.

Don’t make the mistake I made, don’t try to control your thinking, control your reaction to thoughts. Don’t feel like a victim, take control.

If you experience mood swings on a regular basis and feel it is having a negative impact on your life, you may have a mood disorder. There are several different mood disorders, including manic–depressive disorder (sometimes called bipolar disorder), chronic depression, and major depressive disorder.

Bipolar disorder can result in both extreme highs and extreme lows, and in the serious cases these can take the form of cycles of severe depression and rapid shifts to mania. Read more about bipolar disorder here.

Chronic depression and major depressive disorder can be described as periods of depression interspersed with an overall normal mood.
